I came across this application while on Twitter. The "Living Statistics Log" or "Gary Social Media Counter" was developed by Gary Hayes of Personalizemedia.

His words:
"Inspired by other cool real time counters, and various ‘cool’ videos, I decided to put together this little Flash app (which is in constant development) showing how active & dynamic the Social Web is."
